oh god.... I think it is generational. Our parents hardly ever wash - my MIL would stroke the dog right there at the dinner table, and this is after the dog had a huge lipoma removed and had a long, weeping incision. Then she'd use her fingers to tear the chicken apart. My mom washes her hands a lot, but only because she is an RN so she had it drilled in - otherwise, those boomers are notoriously unwise! My mom lets her birds poop all over the place too! She thinks bird poo is "clean" enough to let sit. W/e!
