Windows XP

Ok, so got the new computer, which is really nice and oh so fast compared to what I was used to. Any of you have Windows HP Home Edition? I'm finding some things are missing that should really be here. For instance, one of my favorite features in Windows 98 and Me was the quick icon to switch to the desktop. I can't seem to find that here. Why would they get rid of such a handy lil feature? Or is it here somewhere and I just haven't found it yet?

Also, I thought I could use my old Office Professional disc but my sister in law (total techie) told me that I shouldn't put it on here so now I'm going to get stuck buying the software - just when I thought I was done spending money.

Ok, so any input here is greatly appreciated.

To get the "show the desktop" icon, you usually just have to right-click on the taskbar, go to the Toolbars menu, and select Quick Launch.

What version of Office do you have? As long as you're not talking, say, Office 95, you should be able to get it to work fine under XP.

We have Office Professional and I think it's 98...I'll have to check on that one. You think it's ok to install that? My techie sister in law said it might not work and that it wasn't worth trying...but she doesn't know for sure.

I'd appreciate any more input! You're techie guy too, right?
