How old is Kibbles? Would it be hard on her to have a pup around?
'Bama left quite suddenly and unexpectedly. Think about how much time you need between her going and a new one coming. That's not an answer, just a thing to think about. You might want to resolve feelings before taking on new life. Or maybe not. Maybe a pup is the antidote.
I'm pro dog, you know that. But getting one is a big deal.
Part of me need/want to get a puppy is FOR Kibbles. She's so sad. She's not really eating. She did the same thing when my old dog Casey died a million years ago. But this is much worse because they were sisters for the entire time we have had Kibbles, and she's 11.
Most puppies from newspaper ads like that come from puppy mills and backyard breeders. That should be enough to convince someone not to get one from there. You'd be best off going through a reputable breeder, especially since this place is charging so much. You might have to wait a little longer, but it will be worth it. Look here.. http://www.americanmaltese.org/ for a breeder in your area or a referral to one. That is, if you can't convince yourself you don't want one.
It's not really an option because I need to know the kind of dog I'm getting (I'm allergic to them all, but particularly to anything that sheds) and I want to get a puppy.
We've decided to wait at least until the spring for a few reasons...I want Ella to get a bit bigger, I don't want my kids to think 'Bama's replaceable, and I don't want to be training a small puppy in the winter.
So....nothing's gonna happen for a while. I'm still sad though.
Two pairs of suede/leather winter boots Two pairs of slide on DKNY tennies One pair of rockport slides Craig's new school shoes Ben's shoes Kurt's shoes! (the only shoes he hasn't eaten are Jay's, the little barstage) Three pairs of sandals One Nine West purse One pair of Craig's jeans! Countless socks, papers, bathroom rugs, toys, books, and sundries
Just click on my Roscoe tag and multiply the number of things he's destroyed by 1000. I don't even journal it anymore, the monetary cost is ridiculous.

It's like having another baby. It IS having another baby.
Not that it's bad, but it's not all puppy breath and cuddles. Remember?

Okay.
Piss.
Shit.
Property Destruction.
Barking.
Whining.
Eating.
If I want those things, I have a toddler for that. Alright, not the barking, but still.
I am *so* not a pet person.
