Something's wrong with me

Mentally, that is...

My friend Sheryl was over the other day and she was looking through my stock. She chose a dress to bring to a birthday party she was attending for two little girls. The younger girl just turned two.

Sheryl gave her this dress. The little girl loved it so much she insisted on putting it on right away. I hear this a lot when kids receive my stuff as gifts. It's usually the dresses, but it happens with other stuff and even with boys.

And yet, I'm still not motivated to go back into business. I don't know what it's going to take. I don't know what my problem is. I have more than $500 worth of new stock, washed and ready to dye, and it's just sitting neatly in all the clear bins (yes, Katie) organized by size and season.

Sheryl said if this doesn't motivate me, she doesn't know what will.

I know what its like to be just in a funk and not be motivated to do anything. I'm trying to move away from that some.

maybe we could have a dye a long, like the knitters do with knit a longs? You are one of my favorite people ever to talk about dyeing with and to look at your stuff, so really you should be making more. :P

But aside from that, sometimes we all lose steam. It seems to me that life's making room for something amazing when that happens. I lost all will to do ceramics, and BOOM, I'm living in a different country. It happened a few years back, and BOOM, my sister needed us to come help her for six weeks.

Don't fret too much, it will be back.

On the other hand, sometimes just getting started and pushing through is what's called for. You could try to force it and accept that the first few items might not be inspired as you'd like them to be.

Either way, it's in you. It's deep down, it's evolving, and it will be back strong as ever. Someday.

Fake it 'til you make it, baby. Get in there and dye some stuff. If you're not up to that, how about re-organizing your studio? Arrange your dyes. Make your work area absolutely pristine like you're going to submit photos of it to Better Tie Dye & Gardens magazine. Then see if you stay out of there!

That dress is absolutely perfect on her! Ginger babies are so cute.
