Ha, I did that age meme and I'm only 17...not too surprising actually!

We had the meeting with the school district to see if Laszlo is approved for services. It was pretty stupid, but they did approve him. Robert was getting aggravated by the testing methods, which was getting on my nerves because I told him we weren't there to disprove the findings, but rather to see if we can get Laszlo some services to help him.

The services recommended are mostly for fine motor stuff, since he couldn't cut with the scissors, didn't string beads (until the next day when I *bought* him beads and string), didn't hold his crayon "correctly" and didn't copy the block formations the evaluator did. I'm not concerned about any of these things, since the reason he didn't perform them was because of lack of exposure. The services they recommended were two 30-minute sessions per week. The good thing is that it's all paid for by the state and it's done in a gym-like facility so he can get a bit desensitized to those things as well. I'm sure once the therapist meets him and gets to know him a bit, she can tailor the program for his needs.

Fly Lady

I just signed back up for the Fly Lady thing because I need a little encouragement and guidance with regard to keeping this place clean.

First off, I forgot what a fucking NAG the Fly Lady is. Every 2 seconds another reminder email. Sheesh, get off my back, lady!

Secondly, it's just so terribly chauvinistic. I didn't remember that either. But then again the last time I did it I think I was a new mommy and just so exhausted and needed anything to help. I think I was also WAY into being the perfect lil homemaker (which failed miserably). I probably embraced the whole "get dressed with makeup and shoes" - hello? Makeup? Feh.

The good part is that I'm making my bed every day. Ok, just for the last 2 days, and I got brand new linens so I'm a little more likely to make it than not. But it's a start. And I'm trying to do/fold/put away laundry all in the same day, so I don't end up with baskets and baskets of folded clean laundry and empty closets and drawers. I do feel good when my house is neat. It's just overwhelming because as soon as something is neat, 10 seconds later someone makes it a mess again. This is usually Robert. Or Laszlo. Then I just feel like, fuck it, I'll just throw it all back where it belongs later, so I am a slob too.

Anyone else have good advice about housekeeping? I ordered that cookbook that Kerinda mentioned a little while back, should be here in a day or so. And we bought a crock pot today. I sent Robert to get one a few weeks ago but he came home with a pressure cooker (basically the total opposite) because he thought it was a "better crock pot" because it was more expensive. Oy. I don't understand how this man thinks sometimes.

That's a whole other story. He was so on my nerves today, but I don't have the energy to write about all that now.
