Oral Surgeon and Sin City
Sep. 1st, 2005 10:53 pmThe visit to the oral surgeon was like a sitcom. Things started out just fine. The doctor was really nice and said that my teeth were totally fine and didn't need to be pulled, still no cavities...and he said that my extra canine tooth should come out at some point in the near future but nothing urgent. He injected some novacaine and left the room while it took effect. About a minute after he left, I started hearing this horrible screaming from the other room. Like, "AAAAAAHHHHH! Noooooooooooooooooooooo!" Like that. Over and over. And this creepy looking older doctor was frantically pacing the hallway looking for every assistant he could grab. At first it frightened me and then I was just laughing. A nurse walked by and said, "Are you ok?" I said, "*I'm* ok." She laughed.
Once the doctor came back into the room I said, "Am I on Candid Camera?" I really felt like I must have been. I said, "Why isn't she sleeping?" The doctor said, "She is." All of that screaming in her drug-induced sleep. Oy. Then they told me it was a kid, and that sometimes children don't tolerate the anesthesia as well. Poor thing, she came out to lie down in the other room when they were done, she must have been about 11 or 12.

I watched Sin City tonight. I didn't really know what to expect. I thought it was cool, I mean, if you are into severed heads and all that. It was beautiful to watch, but I was a little disappointed in it. Not sure why exactly. Amazing cast.
Robert's home tomorrow night late late and Saturday I'm getting my hair cut sans kids. I'm looking forward to some alone/pampering time after a week with just me and the kids. They've actually been amazingly well behaved. I'm so thankful.
Oh! And I met Laszlo's teacher today! She called last night and we spoke about Laszlo, etc...and she said she'd be setting up the classroom today and tomorrow if we wanted to stop by. I mentioned how Laszlo is and that he's getting OT and speech and asked her about the SEIT (a teacher that comes to school with him, paid for by the state) - and she told me the class was small and he might just do fine without it. There are 2 teachers and an assistant and only NINE kids! Two of the other kids are Laszlo's best friends. So I'm really not worried. He was pretty good at the classroom today too, and we're going again next Friday to meet the other teacher and drop off his box of extra clothes and doctor forms, etc. I'm looking forward to him being in school for so many reasons, not the least of which is to spend some uninterrupted time with miss Lily. I eat her up all the time, but I always make sure to give equal eating ups to Laszlo, especially since he's been quite jealous lately. That's for another post. At another time.
Off to bed for my last night of alone sleep. Robert went to see my brother and his family in California tonight for dinner...I guess he's still there because he hasn't called me. I haven't seen my brother's family in over a year and won't until April. I hate that they moved so far away.
That's all.
