I have some sort of muscle pull on my hip. I went to my mom's physical therapist yesterday and he was kind enough to give me a quick evaluation, free of charge, to let me know what he thought. He said I'm young for arthritis, and that it's most likely a pull. He said I can still do the elliptical, which I was really happy about. He also said to not do the treadmill until it gets better, so much for my intro to running. I can still take the classes too, and go with the simple rule that if something hurts, stop. If it's not better in three weeks, he wants to send me to get some films to see what's going on in there.
My favorite class was canceled today, so I did 40 minutes on the elliptical, during which my toes on the bad side got numb. I mentioned this to the therapist yesterday and he said it's because there's an inflammation putting pressure on the nerve. Yay.
As long as I'm not out of commission, I'm happy. I iced it when I got home for about 20 minutes, I'll take a shower then ice it again later on.
I can't believe I've become such a gym rat. I'm thrilled about it, but surprised. I haven't been like this since I was 19, and that was just for a summer home from college where I was completely addicted. It's a good thing, I'm glad to be back and kinda mad at myself that it took me this long to get there.
I don't see it stopping any time soon, which is also good...as long as I keep my injuries to a minimum.
