You know, it never made sense to me, but it sometimes works: raise your prices!
This is totally bass-ackwards-sounding to me, but for some people, less expensive = lower quality, so if you're at a show with someone whose clothes cost more, they end up feeling like the more expensive one must be better-made. I'm a bargain hunter myself, and while I will pay more for something I *know* to be better-made, I have no qualms about choosing the less-expensive item if I know both are the same. But I'm guessing that a lot of the folks you've been dealing with have the more = better ethos, and I would guess that if you raised your prices, at least at the shows, you might have a better showing.
It's dumb, and I had a horrible time following that advice with my slings, but before the recession hit, I had raised my prices and got *more* sales than before. Now I've lowered most of them back down because I'm not selling anything expensive (seriously, the majority of my sales are for my least-expensive slings now), but I think that's just the recession, and my market tends to be a little less upscale. If you're selling to an upscale crowd, it's worth considering :)
