We belong to Netflix and I'm running out of movies to watch. There's nothing in "new releases" that I haven't already rented or want to see. I hate going through a million movies, so I figured I'd ask you wise folks what you'd recommend. Recently saw "In America" which was amazing and sad, "The Station Agent" which was amazing and sad, and "Taking Lives" which was not amazing and sad only because of how badly it sucked. It was actually comical how bad it was. And I check the ratings on www.rottentomatoes.com before renting anything, so that way Robert can't give me shit if I rent something he hates.

Suggestions?

Have you seen Love Actually? Or that one with Sean Penn and Michelle Pfeiffer.....can't think of the name of it, that Dakota kid is in it too.

Yep! Seen both of 'em. I liked them both though, so thanks for the suggestions. :-)

what dreams may come - it'll make you cry
where the day takes you - great indie type movie with a steller cast before they made it big, Demott Mulrony, Laura Flynn Boyle, Will Smith, Baltazar Getty, Rikki Lake, and some others
24-hour party people - it's the story of how electronic music and deejaying came to be
Gas Food Lodging - quaint little coming of age, dealing with slutty sister, and mother type of movie. it's good, heatfelt
princess mononoke - anime movie, really really great, has some great actors doing voices, Clair Daines, Jillian Anderson, Minnie Driver, and some others. Don't let the anime scare you off, it's brilliantly put together and they story is great. GREAT.

I haven't seen most of those, I've wanted to see "What Dreams May Come" so I'm gonna put that on my list now. I'll try the others too.

Thanks!

Have you picked a favorite actor and rented all of his/her films? Old TV series you might enjoy viewing again? Looked into their collection of documentaries?

How do you like Netflix recommendations? I haven't found 'em very helpful—they've gotten me into trouble with my husband on a couple of occasions, so now I at least read the full descriptions. :)

Good ideas.

Netflix suggestions...ICK. That's why I go to all the other sites in order to rent something. I can't even navigate their "new releases" section because they put all the movies that are new to DVD, not just new to being released...so you get all kinds of strange movies that you wouldn't want to see.

If my husband wasn't such a wanker about it, I'd just rent whatever I wanted and that would be that. But he gives me such shit about it when we rent a horrible movie. I like to know that rottentomatoes has given it a good review before I stick it in the player. This was my mistake last week with Taking Lives. I just wanted to look at Angelina Jolie on screen for 1.5 hours, and didn't pay attention to the reviews. It was one of the worst movies ever. EVER.

Love Sasha reading the Dr. Seuss book, it's so precious. I have to find a way to record Laszlo doing cute stuff.
