Thanks for the link on SPD...I did some research myself and I'm really not sure whether or not I have it. It certainly rings true on a lot of characteristics, but I'm not sure if all of them are right. I'll definitely mention it to my OB next week at my appointment.

I'm also going to make regular chiropractic appointments until the birth which will hopefully ease the pain. I really hope I don't have it, because all that "no epidural or you'll be in agony for years" stuff scared the bajeezus out of me. I know many of you are anti-epidural, but I had them with each of my kids and wouldn't refuse one this time around, although I'm way more leaning towards NOT having one just because this is almost definitely my last kid and I would like to experience a non-medicated birth.

I'm a bit worried about this, but trying not to get too upset.

Any of you had SPD????

Quite a few of us have had SPD. I had it very bad when I was pregnant with Serafina, and I did nothing as far as outside help for treatment, and I gave up prenatal stretching because of how bad it hurt. Remember though to search the misc.kids.pregnancy archive for more balanced information. Googling a phrase alone is very scary especially when pregnancy is concerned. Googlegrouping the pregnancy group is much better I think.

I've had fairly mild SPD compared to what others have described but it was pretty painful at the time. The "kicked in the groin" feeling you were talking about is exactly how I described it to people. The worst was when I would be doing something like grocery shopping, turning the trolley at the end of the aisle made me feel like my legs were trying to go in two different directions and rip me apart. When I was pregnant with Reece and we had a townhouse with stairs I had to limit how often I was going up and down stairs because it was nearly at the point where I would have to step on each step with both feet rather than alternating up the staircase. It didn't get so bad with Katie, probably because she was born so early (33.5 weeks) and also because I didn't do some of the toddler-carrying I'd done when I was pregnant with Reece.

During my second trimester with Alena the pain came back. I'd found a good chiropractor at this point and I mentioned it to her so she gave me an adjustment of my pelvis at the front. It was wonderful! She said she could feel how out of alignment my pelvic bones were and after she'd adjusted them the pain never really got bad again. She only had to do that adjustment about once a month (I was going fortnightly for most of the third trimester) and I didn't feel anywhere near as bad as I had during my second and third pregnancies.

i was having groin pains earlier in my pregnansy and someone gave me the spd link. i was really konserned that i was totally skrewed. but the pain i was feeling didn't last long or get severe, and the problem mostly resoved itself.

i was in my doula's yoga klass and someone asked something to do with pubik pain (they were deskribing it as someone having kikked you in the pubik bone) and i later sent that same link to my doula. she said that the link overdramatizes and that lots of women have a less dramatik presentation of the same symptoms.
