5 Minutes to Myself
Jun. 27th, 2004 09:47 amThe kids are both quiet, which is rare for this time of morning. I am always up here sneaking some computer time when they are sleeping/quiet in their cribs like this.
Yesterday's BBQ was as I expected. I guess from my years as a preschool teacher and a nanny I still have some sort of special way of relating to kids. Within 15 minutes of being there, the hosts' 2 kids were attached to me and that's pretty much how it was the rest of the evening. Of course, my kids were attached too, and we finally got to the point that we were all inside with the pillows off the couch jumping around while Lily slept out of their reach. I also happened to have enough lollipops in my bag to make me the coolest guest there - in the eyes of the kids of course.
I'm the funnest mom ever.
I guess I'm just happy that I haven't lost that part of me that made me the most favorite babysitter of all the kids I've cared for over the years. Some of the parents would tell me that once I had my own kids, I wouldn't be so excited about little ones anymore...but luckily that's totally untrue. I get such a kick out of little kids. The things they say and do are priceless.
The 5 minutes is up, Laszlo's kvetching in his crib. Back to work!
