Dead Birdie
Jul. 4th, 2004 08:56 pmOh well, we tried our best with the lil bird. The day before yesterday she was totally fine, eating great and flying all over, fluttering her tiny wings and all. Yesterday morning I noticed from upstairs that I didn't hear her usual chirp to be fed. I went down to her cage and she was sitting at the bottom (notoriously a bad sign for captive birds) and she was barely moving. Within an hour she was dead.
I'm thinking that she had something wrong with her from the get go and that's why her mother perhaps shoved her out of the nest when she was just a couple of days old. It was sad that she died, but she would have died 2 weeks ago if we hadn't taken her in, and she had 2 weeks of being fed great stuff and getting fat and being cared for.
I noticed a red bump on her head when we had her for a few days and her head was a little misshapen, so maybe she had a tumor or just didn't develop right...who knows.
We buried her out back...I made some stupid joke that a house isn't a home until you bury your first pet in the backyard.
