lalicopa: (lily loves laszlo)
I took the kids to Music Together today, which started last week but we were at the school district meeting and missed it. I knew that another mom from our previous class was going to be in this class and I made sure we switched to Wednesdays from Thursdays so we could be with her - since she's the only other mom in the class that I felt a click with.

We also had a new instructor (new to us, not the program) and I made sure I told her before she started that Laszlo has some sensory issues and that if he freaks out, that's why. She said she's a music therapist and works with kids like that all the time and thanked me for telling her.

I'm used to being the only nursing mom in groups like this around here. As unfortunate as it is, it just is. So miss Lily wanted some boob during class and I was more than happy to oblige. Only one other mom seemed "bothered" by it...she made a face like she was in shock. This was the same mom who was *freaking out* that there was sand on the floor and that her precious son might get some in his mouth. Heaven forbid.

Anyway, at the end of the class, it was just me and the other woman I know (Beth), the instructor and our kids. Beth has a 3 month old and a 3.5 year old in the class and a kindergarten boy in school. The instructor mentioned, "Well, both of you are nursing, so that's why your babies are so (something or other - positive)." I didn't realize that Beth was nursing. I have only seen her on these 45 minute occasions and she has only brought the new baby to this class, so I had no idea. Then the instructor started talking about when she nursed her own kids. Finally! It's so ridiculous that in a group of moms of young children, nursing is such a rare thing. It makes my blood boil.

And next week, you can bet I'm sitting next to miss don't-get-my-son's-hands-dirty and nursing Lily every 5 minutes!

Also, Laszlo was wonderful in the class. He didn't cry at all, didn't scream, and even participated a little bit. He played the instruments and watched the instructor. At the end when we were leaving, Lily started to cry and he knelt down and hugged her to comfort her.

In other news, (and as posted on MKB), the other day Laszlo lifted up his shirt, put his beloved froggy to his chest and said, "Froggy's drinkin' some boobie." I had always loved hearing stories of other kids nursing their babies, but I never thought Laszlo would do it because he hasn't nursed since he was 13 months old. It was just so cute, and he's done it a few times since then.
