For the last month or so, Laszlo has taken the bus home from school. I still drop him off and stay for a few minutes in his classroom, I chat with his teachers and the other kids.
He had school yesterday and came home with no problem. This morning I was brushing my teeth and Laszlo said, "I have to brush my teeth Mommy. Andrew hurt my teeth at school." I asked him what he meant and he pointed to one tooth and said, "Andrew hurt this tooth at school." There are two Andrews in his class, so I asked which one and he told me. I called my friend whose son is in Laszlo's class and he said that yes, Andrew F. DID hurt Laszlo's tooth. But neither boy had any explanation.
There are no marks and he's clearly not upset about it. The only reason he brought it up was because I was brushing my teeth and it reminded him.
Should I call the teacher and ask? Is this something that is worth investigating. In all honesty, this kid Andrew is a good 4 inches shorter than Laszlo and totally meek. If there was any hurting going on, it was because they were fighting over a toy and it ricocheted into Laszlo's face or maybe they just banged into each other while playing.
This is why I hate putting him on the bus on the way home. But I also love having him on the bus. I don't want to be one of "those moms" who drives the teacher crazy with phone calls. I already called a few times to discuss diaper changes and whether or not my often constipated son shat while in school.
What do you all think? I'm leaning toward just letting it go. There's no school until Monday and I'll ask then face to face when I drop him off. When I was teaching, we sent home notes when the kids got hurt, but I don't think we would have in this situation, especially if there wasn't any mark.
