Whew!

My father used to work for David Yurman. http://www.davidyurman.com
He was hired as some sort of corporate counsel to David himself and they had a very nice relationship.

When I graduated from college, my dad bought me a David Yurman bracelet with a signed authenticity card. I rarely wear the bracelet because I am so afraid of losing it, but I wear it when I am nervous about something, when I'm going somewhere fancy, or when I need to just have my dad around.

The last time I wore it was the first holiday boutique I went to back in November. My brother was in from California then and we had just had the carpet laid back in the basement. Things were pretty hectic and the house was pretty much upside down.

I hadn't thought about the bracelet for a couple of weeks, but decided to put it on when I was going to the other holiday boutique last week. It was missing. I looked in all my usual hiding spots, nada.

My mother told me that whenever she can't find something important, she asks my father, "If you love me, you'll help me find this." I said, "Yeah, guilt to the beyond." Nevertheless, I've asked my father to help me find the bracelet. I've also asked my cleaning girl, husband, friends, etc. if they've seen it anywhere in my house. Nothing.

So last night I had a dream about my childhood dog. We were in my old apartment building and for some reason I was moving back in alone. There were a lot of strange details. But as I was moving in, my dog was at the elevator and she fell down the shaft and died.

I have a tiny toy poodle monument that I got at the vet's office when I had the dog put to sleep. I keep it in my kitchen. Tonight after tearing apart my entire desk and night table yet again, I looked in the kitchen in the drawer under where I keep that little poodle. Voila! My bracelet, safe and sound.

Thanks dad.
