Not fun

This morning I was sitting in the office and saw some lights in my right eye. I thought it was from looking out the window into the sun, but within a few minutes, recognized it as an ocular migraine. I've only had a few of these, once when I was on Clomid trying to get pregnant for the first time and once when I was pregnant with Lily. And today.

At first I was calm because it didn't seem bad and I was alert and not freaking out. And I knew what it was. I was on the phone with my mom and I told her it was happening. She offered to come over, but at the time it was ok. Within a few minutes, it escalated and I was basically blind in my right eye other than seeing flashing neon lights in it.

Robert told me to call the doctor, and I did...so while my mom was on her way here I spoke to the OB, who told me basically what I already know...that they go away in about a half hour and are followed by a headache. She said to take some Tylenol and use a cold compress if I needed to.

Then the panic attack started setting in. I was home along, my mom wasn't here yet and I felt like I was going to be blind. Even though it's happened before, it's a really scary sensation. I remember the last one I had I totally lost my mind and was walking around in circles.

So that's it. I felt better, but I'm "off" today a bit. I kidnapped my mom and we took Laszlo to school and then went shoe shopping with Lily. I hate all my shoes, so I had to get some. I always end up getting Lily and Laszlo shoes when I need some for myself...so today I actually got myself three pairs of relatively stylish shoes. Yay me.

Then Wal-Mart. I had to get "arts and craps" stuff for Lily. She loves to do arts and craps. So does Laszlo, but he doesn't say it cute like that.

Mom bought us lunch and then we came home for Lily to nap and me to rest a bit before the boy gets off the bus in an hour and a half. Mmmmm, ice cream? Oh yeah.

Laszlo got off the school bus and I noticed right away that his left leg looked swollen and red. I took off his shoe and he was in agony. He got a few bug bites yesterday and this one in particular was itching him just before bed.

I assumed it was an allergic reaction, but called the pediatrician to be sure. It was also oozing (ick). The office said to bring him in. Turns out he must have had dirt under his nail or something and scratched it, because now it's infected. He's on antibiotics now and I had to use a Sharpie to outline the redness on his leg, and make sure it doesn't spread or get other markings on it. I felt so bad for him, it really was huge.

Then on the way home from the pharmacy I got the kids McDonalds for dinner and got myself a very delicious iced coffee from there. On the way home, Robert called and was *miserable* about his job, saying that he felt like he was going to cry and that his boss was trying to make him quit. He also said he'd be at work very late tonight because he had to finish up.

Yay for a stress free day. Not.
