Baby for sale

It's a few minutes shy of 3 am. Ella's been up for 3 hours. She's perfectly happy if she's sitting up or lying on me and babbling, but as soon as I lie down to try and sleep, she screams and smacks me. It was so bad that Robert got up at 1:30 and told me to get some sleep - that he'd try and get her down. He came back to get me an hour later, handing me said awake child and said, "I think something's wrong with her" - like, "Jen, she's broken and I can't fix her, here."

So 3/4 tsp of Motrin later and we're still sitting here in the den, so as not to wake the rest of the family.

She's got a little cold, so I'm thinking ear infection maybe, but I have no idea. I thought that last week and the doctor said her ears were fine, but now she's got the cold, so maybe she does have an infection. I dunno. I don't think it's teething because she's not drooly like she normally is when she's getting a tooth, and not really gumming stuff at all. I foresee a pediatrician visit in the next few hours. They don't make pediatric Ambien, do they?

Grrrrrr

Ella's all smiley, after falling asleep around 3:45 this morning. She got up just after Laszlo did, around 8. I managed to get him to school just a few minutes late, after prying Lily out of bed.

I have zero energy. The girls are in my bed playing and I'm downstairs because the thought of voluntarily walking up that flight is making my knees ache.

It's days like this I wish I was a regular and not a decaf kinda girl. Maybe I'll brew a pot and put a little regular in it just to open my eyes a bit.

I keep thinking she'll only be a baby once. This time in my life will fly by and I'll long for it back. I tell myself that in the dark hours when I should be snoozing.

If I trusted Lily more, I'd pass out right here and now. Eyes getting heavy.
