Lily got off the bus a few minutes ago. She said, "Mommy, I was very good at school, did you get me anything?" (She keeps hearing reference to rewards and praise for good behavior at school because of Laszlo...it's hard because she's *always* good).

Then she said, "I was very nice and very patient at school."

I asked her who told her she was patient, since it's not a word we really use at home. She said it was Miss Christine, her teacher.

"Lily, there's a special sheet of animal stickers over there for you."

She walked over to the stickers and looked them over. Then she said, "But Mommy, I was *very* patient at school."

Looks like I'm going to have go to back to the Dollar Tree and buy some more lil stupid things to give Lily. She certainly shouldn't be ignored for being good all the time, but I also don't like the demanding of presents.

This is one of the problems, as slammed in Punished by Rewards (http://www.alfiekohn.org/books/pbr.htm).

They give the kindergardeners candy as rewards for "being a good listener" at Sasha's school. I hate it. I went to the art supply store and spent $80 on a ton of stickers today. I hope they go over better than Lily's, lol.

i giggled at the thought of patient not being used around a house with 3 kids, does this mean that they are all well behaved and you never have to bring it up? or you just use different wording? lol.
