Shit, it's truly amazing how much better I can actually *see* with my glasses on. I haven't worn them in years, my vision impairment is (was) very slight, and I never really got used to wearing them regularly. Tonight the characters looked a tad blurred to me on the monitor, so I put my glasses on (just found them recently after unpacking more boxes from our move) and WOW, the letters are JUMPING OFF THE SCREEN! Amazing. I guess I should get my eyes examined and get some new specs. These are cool, but a little 1999/Lisa Loeb-ish.

In other news, I received the official report from Laszlo's evaluation. I was nervous at first, but it just said the stuff I already knew. Basically his only deficits according to the "professionals" are things I'm not at all concerned about, things that he can actually DO now (stringing beads, holding crayon properly, etc.) We still haven't had the meeting with the district yet to see if they approve the recommendations, but either way I think I'll be ok with it.

I called the school I plan on sending Laszlo to in September today and set up an appointment to take him there for us both to see it. My mom's going to watch Lily so I can focus on Laszlo and let him know it's "his" place. We'll see. We're going on Friday at noon.

Laszlo has changed in the last few days. All of a sudden, he's a little boy. He forgot how to be a baby. He's not listening, he's hitting/pushing/taking toys away from his sister, he's telling me to go away when he wants privacy to do something he's not allowed to do. He actually pushed my leg with all his might today to get me out of the kitchen so he could continue to play with the oven. "Want Mommy to go 'way." Lil bastard. It's frustrating the hell out of me and at the same time it's making me happy because he's doing something "normal" for his age. I think the fact that Lily is mobile now he's freaking out a little bit. He still has his moments of loving her, but today he poured an entire box of Legos over her head and then pushed her to the ground about an hour later because she was holding his cup.

Lily's not crawling yet, but man, she gets where she wants to go. You know the way a dog moves when it wants to rub it's butt on the floor? That's my Lily. Robert also compared it to how the spina bifida guy in Shallow Hal walked. Awful, I know, but funny and accurate as well. I have to get her on video scootching across the floor like that. I don't think she'll ever actually "crawl" but that she'll do this until she walks. It's working for her, so why change it.

Lastly, we went to Robert's uncle's house on New Year's Day. Robert has always said that Lily looks like Uncle Gary, but I thought it was just a joke because Lily's fat and Uncle Gary is fat (despite gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago - he did lose over 100 pounds though). But no. She looks JUST like him. See for yourself.

She's not crying because he's holding her, it was just the end of a long day for her but I wanted to get at least one picture of him holding her!

His children are beautiful, so I'm not *that* worried. :-) I've been calling her "Gary Face" since Saturday.

Re the glasses: I recently had a similar experience when I finally bit the bullet and shelled out for a new pair of glasses.

The is so much more I want to say but I need to go to bed soon and hubby left without making me supper.

I presume she's a bottom-shuffler? If so, she might be a late walker - often bottom-shufflers walk late because they can get around fast already and they're upright with hands free to do stuff, so they don't need to stand up to hold stuff.

Yep, she's a shuffler! Late walking would be ok with me...I'm in no rush to buy shoes!

YoungBloke only has shoes because he's at nursery - and I've chosen to keep him in leather/suede booties rather than proper shoes because he's only cruising furniture and his feet are far too young for anything hard.
