OMG. I have had a few colleagues and one family member suffer through that in the past year. The pain is apparently outrageous. I mean, my one colleague accidentally backed into the wall when attempting to dodge an aggressive dog, and he had the outbreak on his - uh, left flank sort of area? anyway, it brushed the wall, not hard, just brushed - and he CRIED. Like, actually CRIED, out loud, in the exam room. NOT IN CHARACTER at all. Because it was so horribly painful!
It can also cause sensitivity in the affected area for a very long time afterwards. Several people that I know, that have had it affect them after, have said that they sometimes itch, right there, for whatever reason. I feel for him. It sucks, and it hurts, and there isn't a whole lot that can be done besides just letting it heal.
oh dear! i went through this with someone i used to live with and it was awful, just awful. i hope he heals quickly and without too much agony!
