lalicopaGod, I'm such a tv person. Maybe it's because I grew up as the third (and youngest) child. Maybe it's because I am the MTV generation. Maybe it's because my parents didn't know better than to get me full access cable in my own room when I was 11. My brother was a stand-up comic for a few years when I was a teenager. Part of his routine was about how he and I were so different because we're 12 years apart. He said, "I used to watch 'Love, American Style' and wonder why there was a bed in every scene. I was watching an old repeat of it with my little sister and she said, 'Josh, this show SUCKS! They don't even SHOW the fucking!" Hee hee.
For whatever reason, I'm addicted. I disappear in certain shows. I rip off Robert's head if he makes a stupid comment during "important" dialog. Yes, I know it's just TV. Yes, I know it's *bad* for me. Feh.
My latest addiction is The L Word. I LUV it. I ordered Showtime just so I could watch it. It's so worth the 10 bucks a month, plus we get like 10 other channels with that, so it's ok. Plus we never get to watch the movies we rent through Blockbuster anymore, so I'm canceling that membership and we'll end up ahead 4 dollars a month. See, I'm always thinkin'. Call me practical. Ah, and Fat Actress is starting soon, which looks like it could be entertaining. Ah, and there's Huff with Hank Azaria...meow.
The L Word is just so good. I understand it stresses many lesbian stereotypes, but no more than any other show exploits stereotypes. The L Word is like Melrose Place, only without all those stupid boys in it. It's got cool women in it and it's tres sexy. I'm totally infatuated with one of the actresses.
In other TV news, Chris Rock SUCKED tonight. I'm a huge fan of his, but this just wasn't his element. He should have really curbed the ghetto jokes and taken some pointers from some other successful Oscar hosts. It wasn't a Chris Rock HBO special, it was the Oscars...have some respect, man. But even then, he just wasn't funny. I think maybe he was intimidated or uncomfortable or something...who knows. I was really disappointed. I don't think he'll be hosting next year.
Guess that's all. The weekend was pretty good. Robert got the cold that we all had, only of course, he was just *so* much worse than we had it. I swear, I don't know how men who live alone survive. It's a fucking cold, deal with it. He couldn't believe that I could possibly have had the same cold, since I was still functioning. Hello, I don't have a CHOICE. I have to take care of 2 kids all day long. So, I did that, and sniffled my way through it, feeling like shit. There's a reason men can't give birth.
