I bought very little from either Motherhood or Mimi Maternity, but I did get a few things there both times. The vast majority of my clothing I got from an eBay auction.

I lived near a Motherhood outlet when I was pregnant, so I bought quite a bit off the clearance racks. Since I wore FIVE different sizes (started in medium at 10 weeks and wore XXL when I delivered at 36 1/2 weeks - I measured 50 weeks on the day they were born) I was reluctant to spend much on clothes.

I also bought a lot from JCPenney's, both in the store and online. Target's "Liz Lange" line either runs small or is cut to fit closely and that just didn't work for me.

I didn't get very big very fast, and just wore normal clothes with elastic waists in bigger sizes. Until the very end, when I went around in ratty T-shirts and avoided going out, because nothing fit. But it wasn't worth getting maternity clothes for a couple of weeks.

My mainstays in my last pregnancy were a pair of stretch jeans in a huge size from Gasoline, a couple of extra big shirts from an American Eagle discount rack, maternity undies from a maternity shop and a slip dress from somewhere I forget in a rather large size. OH. And a huge pair of flip flops from a Gap clearance bin since my feet got huge and sweared obscenely in anything else.
