Poor Laszlo

I got 2 doses of the antibiotics into Laszlo so far, but the swelling's still there and the redness and heat. I called the doctor and he said it could take 24-48 hours and that as long as it's not spreading, then we're ok.
It's so puffy that I can't get his shoe on. So we're basically home bound. It's either that, or go somewhere with a shopping cart - which would mean spending money I can't be spending.
So we're home today. La di da. Hopefully the kids will nap or something. Wish me luck stuck home with them! :-)

Date: 2006-09-19 08:12 pm (UTC)The kids ended up taking a bath together for over an hour, which was great...and then Lily went to sleep and so far (knocking on wood) Laszlo's being really good playing in the basement. He's even letting me mix some dyes and dye a few garments! Yay!

Date: 2006-09-20 12:30 am (UTC)I know you from mkp, and I was reading the post about Laszlo's bite. My children react to mosquito bites like this, and it is possible benadryl would bring the swelling down. I don't know if it's worth the try or not, but it sounds like such a similar scenario. Hope it gets better soon.

I gave him Benadryl right away, it did nothing. That's what I was concerned about. I spoke to the doctor today and he said that it can take 24-48 hours for the antibiotic to really kick in, so hopefully I'll be able to get a shoe on this kid by tomorrow for school.
The Benadryl is good for him because it will help him sleep tonight and stop him from scratching, but it's definitely an infection. It's really hot to the touch and all pus-ish and gross.
Poor lil guy.
Thanks for writing.

Date: 2006-09-20 01:27 pm (UTC)I hope the antibiotic kicks in soon!! My daughter had a reaction similar once (hot, hugely swollen, but no puss. It was weeping clear fluid, though), and it wasn't fun. She was miserable.
